The lining of the bronchial tubes becomes inflamed or infected and the person would likely to have a reduced ability to breathe in air and oxygen into their lungs that eventually have heavy mucus or phlegm forming in their airways. Such disease can not only bring discomfort but it can cause other symptoms also.
Depending upon its intensity of its symptoms, bronchitis can be acute or chronic. Acute bronchitis referred to illness with a cold or viral infection like flu, mostly for a shorter period of time. Some of the usual signs like cough with mucus, chest discomfort or soreness, fever and sometimes shortness of breath. Whereas chronic bronchitis is much critical and an ongoing illness that mostly causes a persistent, mucus-producing cough that lasts longer than three months and it can cause varying symptoms.

Treatment and prevention:
Medication: In most case this is the first line of treatment and like use of Antibiotics to fight its bacterial elements, cough medicine for mucus and removal of irritants from the lungs, Bronchodilators to unclog the bronchial tubes, other anti-inflammatory medicines and glucocorticoid steroids if three is a persistent symptoms to decrease chronic inflammation, oxygen therapy to better breathing pattern, pulmonary rehabilitation program as respiratory therapist that also improve breathing.
Some alteration: Even in course of treatment, simple life alterations like eliminating culprit that cause like if you are smoking then it is the time to stopping smoking, use of humidifier which effectively loosen mucus and relieve limited airflow and wheezing. Even in such cases exercise would also help you by strengthening the muscles involved in breathing and also specified breathing exercises like pursed-lip breathing that helps to slow breathing down.
