Healthy diet is the key to lower depression risk, says a study

Healthy diet for health lifestyleYou can now lower your risk of having severe depression by choosing a healthy diet, claimed by a study.

Depression is linked with several other health consequences. It can develop due to a number of reasons. Prevention is better than cure and thus one has to take precautionary measures to keep the risk of getting depression at bay.

To explain how diet changes helps in keeping the risk of developing depression low, a study was conducted at the University of Eastern Finland. Nearly 2000 men participated in the study. Anu Ruusunen, MSc, stated that this study has induced the connection between a healthy diet and its role not only in the treatment of the illness but also in the prevention of the same.

Depression is not just a prolonged saddening period but it also shows other symptoms. People with depressive episodes generally tend to have poor quality food with low nutrients. And thus this study was conducted to see how healthy changes in food will survive one from getting deep into the depression levels.

What actually is a healthy diet? It comprises of all nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals. Healthy changes in the diet definitely help you to get rid of depressive symptoms.

Folate is a nutrient found in veggies, fruits, whole grains, seeds and nuts and animal sources such as liver and meat helps in abating the rid of getting depression. Addition to this, coffee consumption is also linked with the decreased risk of depression.

Depressive symptoms include hopelessness, worthlessness and thoughts of suicide etc that certainly affects the quality of life. If you are already suffering from depression you need to keep consuming your anti depressants also along with healthy food stuff. If you are healthy, not dealing with any depression then prevention can be done with the right changes in the diet.
