Lungs are indeed the most important organ in our anatomy, which are pair of organs located within the ribcage, consisting of elastic sacs with branching passages into which air is drawn, so that oxygen can pass into the blood and carbon dioxide be removed. Just to put in simple words good lungs mean you can breathe well. And lung cancer is caused when tumor is developed in lungs as the cancer cells grew rapidly. It doesn’t have any obvious symptoms until the disease is quite advanced and when someone when under diagnosis and apparently such cancers has a low rate of survival. Treatment course could for lung cancer mainly involves surgery and chemotherapy, while radiation therapy and targeted drug therapies may also be used.
As per the medical research indicates there are two different types of lung cancer, which are small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). And they differ in terms of how they grow and spread to other parts of the body and how they’re treated. Indeed it needed proper diagnosis to figure that out.
Although smoking is the most labeled factors that cause such cancerous conditions as most of the case studies would suggests, however there are other possibilities too. Even passive smoking as inhalation of tobacco smoke by non-smokers who live or work with smokers would also cause an established risk factor for the development of lung cancer. There are also slight chances that lung cancer could be caused by genetic susceptibility, as it might play a role in the development of lung cancer. Other causes of lung cancer include air pollution by vehicles, industry, and power generation and inhalation of asbestos fibers usually in the workplace.
There are other unusual possible factors like Radon gas, which is a natural radioactive gas that is a natural decay product of uranium that emits a type of ionizing radiation.
There are some commonly caused symptoms that can be routed to cause such complications. But the trickiest part is, it is hard to configure it in early stage, so one cannot rely on any set of symptoms that would indicate prevalence of cancer conditions. but some of the most common symptoms like persistent cough and hoarseness, shortness of breath, wheezing, and chest pain, blood-streaked sputum, chest pain, frequent episodes of bronchitis or pneumonia or unexplained weight loss, weakness, and fatigue episodes. Such symptoms could also be confused or be linked to some other health alignments. Like long lasting cough could be linked to TB or weight loss could be linked to Anemia. So regardless of what conditions could be, it is better to opt for medical checkups or proper diagnostic tests.
Apparently there is wide range of diagnostic tests and procedures availed to diagnose lung cancer, including taking a patient history, physical examination, blood tests, chest x-rays, computerized tomography (CT) and positron emission tomography (PET) scans, bone scans, bronchoscopy, cytological studies of sputum, bronchial washings, and fine needle biopsy could be performed to see. Many of these procedures are also used to determine the stage of the cancer.
It is better to prevent possibilities that could cause such alignments is the avoid smoking, even passive one, to avoid most common possibilities. And it is advisable to opt for routine checks ups so you could raise chances of early stage diagnosis.
